Service Description

The Black American Tree Project is a unique, participatory experience that fosters understanding, respect, truth, and reconciliation about the experience of Black Americans from pre-colonial Africa to the present day. Participants read scripts or first-person accounts and engage in courageous, challenging, and civil conversations about race in America. We partner with community organizations, universities, museums, and other groups to host The Black American Tree Project in conjunction with Invest in Neighborhoods. The project was co-developed by Danyetta Najoli and inspired by ideas and projects including Social Role Valorization (SRV), The String Exercise (Starfire), The Kairos Blanket Exercise (Indigenous Peoples in North America), and UNDIVIDED (Six-Week Faith-Based Racial Reconciliation conversation). To learn more about hosting this project at your organization or group, visit: www.TheBlackAmericanTreeProject.org or contact us.
